NOTE: This is the first of a two part series focused on what happens to those who choose to reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Eternal judgment.
Some people say, "they made their choice and they deserve to burn forevermore."
The problem with this line of reasoning is…
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Considering the fact that they also are part of the "all" package that would leave even them in a position of deserving to be cut off for all eternity.
It is without question that there are consequences for disobedience. However, the question is, is hell eternal and if not what is this final judgment that is waiting for those that choose to reject the free gift of grace.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Most everyone who has spent time studying God's Word has been taught John 3:16 to the point that it is a memorized verse while not having the slightest incline what John 3:17 says.
John 3:17
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Notice the words…
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son"
And…
"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world"
God loved THE WORLD.
God DID NOT send his Son to condemn THE WORLD.
With that being the case there are 4 options available to God.
A. Let all enter Heaven no matter what they decided.
B. Send the unrighteous into an eternal lake of fire.
C. Send people to an eternal purgatory or "no man's" land.
D. Allow those who chose not to follow Him to cease to exist.
Now that we understand that eternal judgment is based on an act of love from God. We will take a look at each of the above options to find out which one fits scripture and makes the most sense to find out… is hell eternal?
